The group, The Progressive Shamanists, has released a new version of the song, The Celebrity.
Background
Greg Pichler, a founding member of the Progressive Shamanists, produced the Glenwood Road version of the song, The Celebrity, in advance of the weekend session at the Tanglewood studio in Tanglewood, Pennsylvania, starting Friday, July 15, 1983. The Progressive Shamanists recorded the song on a Tascam 22-4, 4 track reel-to-reel tape drive over the course of the weekend. The initial recording of the song, The Celebrity, appears as the eighth track of the The New Shrooms, Volume Two Collection.
What the song is about
The song is about a man, who fantasizes about being involved with a young, female film celebrity. As time progress the man becomes harassed by the media about the course of his relationship with the celebrity. He finds the stress so intense that he no longer has satisfying intimacy with the celebrity. Ultimately, he decides to break it off with the celebrity. However, the paparazzi is as persistent as ever demanding to know the details of his break up with the celebrity.
