Founding Members of The Progressive Shamanists on break in the Poconos.

Insomnia Number Nine

Background

Greg Pichler of the Progressive Shamanists produced a new rendition of the song, Pop Tune, on February 20, 2022. Tim Boyland and Keith Swanson originally composed the song, Pop Tune, as an instrumental in 1988 or thereabouts. Boyland, Swanson and Kowtko recorded the song over the course of the weekend, starting, Friday, March 18, 1988 or thereabouts. Rob Kowtko, a founding member of the group, The Progressive Shamanists, mastered the original song, Pop Tune, onto a cassette tape along with six other original works after the session in Tanglewood, Pennsylvania at which Boyland and Swanson attended. Later, Kowtko forwarded a copy of the cassette tape to Pichler with the intent to have Pichler commercialize the material.

On February 20, 2022, approximately thirty-four years later, Pichler re-vamped the song, introducing a number of new passages to the original composition.
