The Progressive Shamanists, including Keith Swanson, Rob Kowtko and Greg Pichler met at the Dune Road studio in Bethany Beach, Delaware on the weekend, starting Friday, November 21, 1983 or thereabouts. During that weekend the group recorded the two songs on a Tascam 22-4, reel-to-reel tape deck, including an instrumental advanced by Swanson labeled Whitewash (Swanson), and another instrumental advanced by Swanson labeled Cobra Eyes (R Kowtko), and Nor'Easter (Swanson).
At this point in time Rob Prigge had graduated from the Arts and Sciences College of Lehigh University with a bachelor's of science degree and was serving in the U.S. Army. In fact the US military shipped Prigge to the Demilitarized Zone on the Korean peninsula.
